When it comes to trying to lose weight many people have found that they have struggled with trying to shred those extra pounds for some time. It has made their life more difficult than they want and I’d imagine that you have tried to lose weight on your own more than once. In fact, you’ve spent more time thinking about it than you’d like.
When you really think about it, it has affected other areas of your life. And you haven’t been able to know what to do. But you do know that it is something that you can no longer ignore or put off without getting more of what you don’t want.
I don’t know when you will realize when the time is right to change. As you sit there reading this, it could be today, tomorrow, a few days or even right now.
But what I do know is that if the time to change isn’t now, then its soon approaching. Until now you have wondered if you can really change this, if it’s really possible. And even though you’ve not been able to fully succeed at over coming it, you may wonder what you can begin now to change.
One method that many people have found success with is using hypnosis for weight loss. By going into a hypnotic state people can access the resources of their unconscious mind to change. You see, as you sit there reading, you may not know that you have two minds - your conscious mind and your unconscious mind.
Your conscious mind is the rational part of you and can only pay attention to a limited number of things at once. Your unconscious mind knows everything else. It keeps your heart rate going as you breath in and out and continue to blink while it monitors those other things outside of your conscious awareness.
People consciously try to resolve their problems, while their unconscious mind knows what the cause of the problem is. So while your conscious mind wonders how you can change this, your unconscious knows how to change this easily. By using hypnosis for weight loss your unconscious can begin to find resources that will help you lose the weight that you desire deep down inside.
So while you consciously say to yourself, “Don’t eat that. Thats bad for you.” That all means nothing when you open the fridge and all that bad food that taste’s so good calls back, “Eat me, I’ll make you feel better.” And because your unconscious has automated all those compulsive process, you’re compelled do eat while your rational mind wonders why.
By using hypnosis for weight loss you can start to begin to make those changes at a deeper level of conscious. Now, I wonder how good you can feel as you imagine how bright and colorful your future will be when you have lost all that weight. Can you picture it right now? And as you experience that feeling the motivation will become stronger and stronger still, and you can take action now to start moving towards your new and wonderful future.
And in the days and weeks ahead you can use that good feeling and powerful motivation to keep moving closer and closer to that future…

When you have been exploring the concept of hypnosis for weight loss, have you ever wondered where feelings come from and how they are created inside your body? You may be surprised to know that it is our minds that control how our body reacts to certain external events, people or objects. Imagine what it could be like if you could control your feelings towards food like chocolate, fast food, ice cream and all that other bad stuff.
Your mind is like a computer and images are part of the software or programming that tells the body how to react. By changing the images and how they look inside your mind you can change how you feel. This is why if you are thinking of using hypnosis for weight loss then a useful trick to know is how to control the images inside your mind. Your can do this inside a hypnotic trance or in a waking trance.
The process of losing weight can be made easier if you can lose the good feeling towards bad foods. Then attach that good feeling to those healthy foods that you know that you should consciously eat but somehow you can’t.
Before I show you a hypnotic exercise to help you lose weight, you will first need to understand how to control the images in your mind.
First, think of a happy moment in your life. If you were to imagine that your mind’s eye was a large movie screen where would the image of this happy moment be? You see, our mind places pictures in certain places around our body. Is it up to the left? Down to the right? Close or far away? Take your time if you find this difficult. You may find the image becomes clearer if you physically reach out and touch it.
Is this image a movie or still shot? Is it in color of black and white? Are you looking through your own eyes or are you looking at yourself, as if you were in a movie? Is there a border around it? Is it clear or fuzzy?
Now, take this image and push back into the distance - away from you – and it becomes smaller. Does the intensity of the feeling increase? Bring it closer again. Does the feeling grow? Use your hands to physically move the image if it helps.
If you were looking through your own eyes, step out of the image and look at yourself. Does the feeling becomes less strong? If you were looking at yourself, step into the image and look through your own eyes. Does it become stronger still?
Now, regardless of how you have the image is at the moment - step into the image, look through your own eyes, bring it closer and make it bigger to the point where it feels good. Really good. Now, turn up the brightness, make it clearer. If there are any sounds associated with the image, make them louder and in stereo. How does this all change how you feel?
See, you can control how you feel by using visualizations.
Now, take an image of the food that you like to eat but know you shouldn’t. In this image, see another smaller and dark image in the corner. This dark and small second image is a picture of a food that you know you should be eating instead of the bad one.
Now, make the image of the bad food smaller and darker, and – at the same time – make the image of the good food brighter and bigger. The bad food shrinks then vanishes while the good one grows. Do this very quickly, like half a second. Whooosh.
Go inside and do this five times. When you do this, don’t reverse the moving images. Just start straight from the beginning – make an image of the bad food and make it go away with the good food.
Wooosh. Wooosh. Woosh. Woosh. Woosh.
Once your done, go back inside to try make the bad image again. What happens?

Your self-image is how you see yourself in your mind’s eye. It is important because you will very rarely engage in behavior which is inconsistent with this image. When you are trying to diet or lose weight if you have a self-image which is inconsistent with that of a person who lives a healthy life style then you will run into problems. Why? Because your unconscious self-image is telling you that it simply isn’t who you are.
By using hypnosis for weight loss people can learn to change their self-image to one that is more of an aid than a hindrance to their desire to lose weight.
Your self-image can be self-fulfilling prophecy. I’m sure you have met someone who is physically attractive and yet thinks of themselves as ugly. Often in these cases the person engages in behavior which is self-defeating by either trying to overcompensate for their perceived inadequacies or simply giving up. The extremes are either acting like they are the world’s ugliest person (eg. Locking themselves away in their house) or working so hard on their appearance that it backfires (eg. Extreme plastic surgery).
I once met a very tall man who was timid and weak in social situations. When I asked him how he saw himself he said that he saw himself as a small, scared child. I had him close his eyes and imagine that child was growing into a big, strong man. I then asked him to step inside that image and look out on to the world through his new eyes. His whole face and body changed as he imagined how he would use this new found feeling into the future.
In terms of dieting, your self-image is at work either aiding or hindering you in your quest to lose weight. When you imagine yourself do you see someone who enjoys exercise and healthy foods? Or do you see someone who likes to eat unhealthy foods and do little exercise? This all has an impact on your ability to lose weight in an easy manner.
Because your self-image usually sits just below consciousness in the unconscious mind, much of its effects are shown in unconscious behavior. How you stand, what you say to yourself, whether you feel good or bad about your actions, those little choices in your day that add up to big choices by the end of the week. These are all unconscious behaviors that are being guided by the unconscious map which is your self-image.
The hypnotic technique that I’m about to share with you is a powerful way you can change your self-image. You should do this daily to reinforce the learnings at an unconscious level.
First, imagine that you are standing in front of your self-image that is in your mind. Blow it up to a real life size – make it bright and crystal clear. Take a moment to look at yourself. How do you look? What clothes are you wearing? If it helps you to visualize, reach out and touch or adjust your clothing. How do you sound when you talk? How do you interact with other people?
Now, begin to change this image to your ideal self – the person you want to be. Make sure it is bright, clear and vivid. Again, if it helps, physically reach out and use your hands to change or touch the image. How do you look, talk and interact with others? Move on to the next step only when you are ready.
Step into this ideal image of yourself and look out to the world through your new self’s eyes. Notice the shift inside your body – your breathing changes, your posture and muscle tension. How does your face change? Do things look different? Sound different? Feel different? Imagine how you interact with others.
Spend a few moment imaging future interactions or challenges and how now you will handle these situations.
Hypnosis for Weight Loss – A Quick Technique to Get You Started

Some hypnotic techniques don’t necessarily have to involve an obvious trance – ie. eyes closed, relaxed and deep breathing. In fact, many of the hypnotic techniques used in a trance can also be used out of trance for the same effect. This means that if you want to use hypnosis for weight loss you can do certain exercises without your hypnotist or hypnotic CD / MP3 in between sessions to reinforce the unconscious learnings.
Do you have a special food that you crave that you know you really shouldn’t? You know the one. Imagine for a moment that the craving could vanish in an instant and in its place you craved a more healthy food. How good would you feel if you could control what you wanted to eat? Dieting would be a whole lot easier, wouldn’t?
Change can happen in an instant. It doesn’t have to be a slow and effort filled process. Life is full of people making changes to how they think and feel about something in a few short moments. Has there been a moment in your life where you suddenly changed how you felt about something?
My brother use to love choclate muffins. Every morning he would walk from his office down to the muffin shop to pick up a muffin and coffee. Often, he couldn’t wait and would eat the muffin on his way back to the office. On one particular day he was walking back eating his muffin when - just as he had taken a bite - the most awful smell filled his nostrils. It was so powerful he gagged and spat the muffin out on to the footpath. Covering his nose and mouth, he looked around for the source and quickly found that the smell was coming from a nearby dumpster.
He never looked inside that dumpster so he never knew what actually caused the smell. But from that day on he could never eat a chocolate muffin again. Even just the sight of a muffin would bring back the memories of that smell and would instantly turn him off.
Our mind is a powerful tool. Knowing how to change is really about knowing how our mind learns and using those learning processes strategically to make the changes that we want. This is where using hypnosis for weight loss can be beneficial in learning how to make changes in minutes.
Changing Your Cravings
Step 1:
Imagine for a moment a food that you crave. See how it looks in front of you. Smell it. Is there a sound that you associate with it - when you hear it cooking, bite into it or open the wrapper? Imagine taking it inside your mouth and tasting it. Feel the texture inside. Really imagine and focus on the sights, sounds and feelings inside.
Now, when this feeling is strong…
Step 2:
On your left hand, press your pointer finger and thumb together. In a moment, you will use this as a trigger for you to recall this feeling.
Step 3:
Let the feeling vanish by thinking of what you did yesterday just after you woke up. Wait for the feeling to go.
Step 4:
Think of something that you really dislike - the smell, taste or sight of. Something that makes you screw your nose up when you think about. It could be cigarettes, a type of food or even maggots.
What does it look like in front of you? Make the image clear and bright. Imagine how it smells – let it fill your nostrils. Is there are sound that you associate with this object? Turn ti up. What about a taste? Really amplify whatever makes this negative feeling strong.
Even though this is a negative feeling, it is important for the success of this technique that you really feel it. Now…
Step 5:
On your right hand, press your pointer finger and thumb together. This will be a trigger to remember this feeling in a moment.
Step 6:
Give yourself a moment for the feeling to subside…
Action both triggers by pressing your pointer fingers and thumbs on both hands together. Imagine what it would be like if you mixed both the food you like and the thing you dislike together. What would the new dish look like? How would it smell? And the texture? Go on - have a taste!
Vividly imagine all these new sights, sounds, smells and tastes. Really imagine.
Think about the food from Step 1 - how have your cravings changed now?
Hypnosis for Weight Loss - An Introduction

The fact that you are reading this article means that you have an interest in using hypnosis for weight loss. Chances are you have tried many things over time to lose weight and while some ways have been more successful than others you are still looking for something to help you shed the pounds and keep them off.
If you are like most people, you can imagine what it would be like to lose weight easily and without effort. Perhaps you have a goal in mind - a bright, large and clear image of what you will look like when you have lost all the weight you want. How good does it feel when you look at that bright and wonderful future?
The blue text advertisements that promote hypnosis for weight loss say that you can lose weight while you sleep or all you need to do is listen to a CD and you will automatically lose 10 pounds.
Surprisingly, there is some truth in these claims but perhaps not in the way that you think. Hypnosis is a tool that can help you make changes to your diet and increase your motivation to exercise. Best of all, when used properly, it will make you feel good about dieting and losing weight, and these changes in attitudes and feelings can be done quickly and easily.
As you read this article there are few important things you really need to know about hypnosis. Probably the most important is that a hypnotic trance is a natural and everyday experience. The reality is that you have experienced trance before; its just you haven’t consciously realized that is what it was.
Think back to a time when you were on public transport and you started to day dream as you stared out the window. Or when you were entranced by a movie, book or game and the outside world seemed to disappear. Perhaps you have driven a long way before in a car and your conscious mind wandered off to other times and places while your unconscious mind operated the pedals, gears and steering. Later, you “wake up” safely at your destination. Or you were inside a crowded elevator and you ignored the people around you to watch the numbers as the elevator went down and down.
The fact you have experienced natural hypnotic trance before means that you can comfortably and naturally go into a trance state. If you allow it to be so, you can go inside yourself and go deeper and deeper to learn even more about the process of going into a weight loss trance.
A concern that some people have about hypnosis is that they may be controlled or do something that they wouldn’t normally do. This concern fades away when they realised that their unconscious mind will only accept suggestions that are positive and within their value system, and will disregard the rest. Now, thinking about hypnosis for weight loss, any suggestions about losing weight that a hypnotist or CD provides you will be positive and constructive, and will allow you to really enjoy the process of losing those pounds in the days and weeks ahead.
Hypnosis is a tool to change your behaviour so that you can lose weight. If a hypnotist ever tells you that they can hypnotize you and you will automatically lose weight then they are deceiving you because this is physically and psychologically impossible. However, by changing how you think and feel about food and exercise, hypnosis helps you make it easier about the choices you make in your daily life.
